Did you know that digital technology already contributes to 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions, more than aviation?
Then, have you ever had the sensation of feeling your smartphone vibrate when in reality you’ve received no notification at all?
It’s called FOMO syndrome and it’s a sign of digital addiction.
We live and work in a digitized world.
Digital technology certainly facilitates our daily lives and sometimes our mobility, but when used improperly, it harms our health and the environment.
So what is the dark side of digital technology?
With “Un autre univers numérique est possible” (Another digital universe is possible), Ivan Mariblanca Flinch, founder of the Canopé company, presents a behind-the-scenes look at the digital world.
Easy to read, this book presents the environmental footprint of digital technology, looking at the attention economy, the energy impact of online videos and the role of GAFAM in this growing pollution.
Finally, you’ll discover 42 best practices for rapidly reducing your digital footprint, as well as 10 tips for controlling your screen time.
If you want to discover and easily understand the environmental impact of digital technology, “Un autre univers numérique est possible” is the book for you.

Ivan Mariblanca Flinch, born in 1994, is originally from Andorra.
Trained as an engineer, Ivan has long questioned the place of technology in our daily lives.
Optimistic but realistic by nature, his aim is to change the culture and use of digital technology on a global scale.
In early 2020, he embarked on the Responsible Digital Initiative.
He starts his Canopé project, where other people soon join him in his vision of changing the environmental footprint of technology.
In just a few years, Canopé has become the Swiss benchmark for Green IT, and is now expanding internationally.
Today, Ivan is one of 30 European experts recognized by the Institut du Numérique Responsable.
He is co-responsible for the scientific committee of the Swiss Institute for Sustainable IT and is co-author of the report “Numérique responsable en entreprise: où en est la Suisse?”
Today, Ivan, through Canopé, supports large companies, SMEs and public administrations in their Green IT initiatives and certifications.
In 2022, Ivan and Canopé are taking the big step of offering a web platform to automate the measurement and reduction of IT’s environmental footprint, as well as raising employee awareness of digital pollution and related best practices.
The platform is already available in 5 languages and is present in several countries.
