Since the end of September, the Microcity-based start-up has been marketing a platform enabling companies to measure their IT footprint.
In his first professional life, Ivan Mariblanca Flinch worked for "the dark side of the environment". By which he means the aeronautics, tobacco and oil industries. In February 2020, the young man, now 28, had a real wake-up call when he watched the TV show Qui veut être mon associé? "Startups were presenting their projects to investors, and I said to myself: why not take the plunge and think about a business that could have a positive impact on the planet?"
The aeronautical materials engineer, originally from Andorra, quickly took the plunge.
After several months of consulting work, he founded his start-up company, Canopé, on April 11 2022 – his birthday, he adds.
The company is based on three pillars: measuring the environmental footprint of companies’ IT assets, supporting them in implementing a responsible digital strategy and, lastly, awarding certification. Canopé is the only company in Switzerland to be able to award the Numérique Responsable certification.
Shortlisted for the BCN Innovation Prize (the winner will be announced on October 19), the Microcity-based start-up will be marketing a platform for measuring its carbon footprint at the end of September.
Our great strength is the ease of use of our platform,” explains Ivan Mariblanca Flinch. It’s like making a shopping list. The company discovers its IT environmental footprint in a fun and educational way. This is vital because all employees, in any department, need to be able to understand and thus implement best practices.”
